FOOTBALL: FITTON Hill roared to victory in the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division Shield final.

They beat Heyside 6-1, largely thanks to Callum Franklin’s terrific four-goal haul.

Aaron Murdoch scored twice for the victors, while Chris Ollerton replied for Heyside in the final at Chadderton FC.

In Martin Buckley Division Two action, Oddies 14 wrapped up an excellent campaign with a 6-0 win against Oldham XI.

The David Giblin Division One promotion play-off final saw Rifle ‘B’ seal elevation to the top flight as they beat Limeside Athletic 4-2. Dom Hallam (two), Nathan Barker and Daniel Brown scored for Rifle.

RIFLE ‘A’ wrapped up a brilliant Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League double when they won the Challenge Cup at Mossley’s Seel Park ground.

Paddy McGuirk’s side saw off Heyside 3-1 with strikes from Ryan Hobin, Nathan Eastmond and Osman Bushara. Jason Hill was on target for Heyside.

Rifle added the Challenge Cup silverware to their Jack Abbott Premier Division title, which was sealed weeks ago.

McGuirk’s men have won 15 out of 15 games so far, ahead of Sunday’s final game of the campaign, ironically against Heyside.

McGuirk said: “Heyside played really well in the cup final, but we were just more clinical in front of goal. That’s the way it’s been all season. The strikers have been firing on all cylinders throughout.”
