Worrall: Hard work is the remedy

RUGBY: OLDHAM St Anne’s aim to make it back-to-back home victories when they take on Underbank Rangers tomorrow (2.30pm kick-off).

The Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Two clash pits Mick Worrall’s side against a Holmfirth-based outfit sitting comfortably in mid-table.

Saints’ position is more precarious and to climb out of relegation danger, these are the sorts of fixtures they need points from.

Coach Mick Worrall is again up against it, selection-wise. Long-term injured parties Kiel Lancashire (ankle), Dane English (knee) and Tom McMullen (broken rib) are still missing and a couple of players may be unavailable. But he is asking the side that does head out at Higginshaw Road not to leave anything on the field after 80 minutes.

“We are near the bottom and when that is the case, you simply have to work harder,” Worrall said.

“We will have to dig in to get ourselves out of it.”

SADDLEWORTH Rangers are still waiting on a first victory of the season. They almost managed to pick up two points last time, leading 21-20 against Wigan St Judes. In the 70th minute at Shaw Hall Bank Road, Rangers succumbed to a drop goal and a late penalty to lose an eighth straight game.

Bottom of the table on no points, Craig Farrimond’s side have their work cut out to improve.

The Greenfield side faces a long trek to Kells in Whitehaven, to meet a side gunning for promotion to the Premier Division. Kells are currently second.

WATERHEAD Warriors are without a fixture in Division Three.
