CRICKET: IT proved to be a mixed weekend for Woodhouses in the Greene King Lancashire County League.

Yesterday the Belfields outfit crashed out of the Walkden Cup competition at the quarter-final stage.

Hosting a Prestwich side that had already won every one of its fixtures this season, the visitors took first knock, registering an imposing 286 for seven.

’Houses couldn't quite keep up with the required run-rate in their unsuccessful victory chase as they eventually fell to 222 all out.

But on Saturday Woodhouses stormed to a massive league victory at Thornham. The visitors took first knock and scored an impressive 265 for seven, before skittling their opponents for a pitiful 62 all out.

’Houses remain in 10th place in the table.

DELPH secured the consolation of two batting points as they fell to defeat at Barkisland in the Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership.

Barkisland batted first, scoring 274 for seven from their 50 overs. Alex Scholefield top scored with 82. In reply, Arron Lilley’s men were 229 all out. Greg Buckley hit 87 from 75 balls, while Andy Cadd added 34 and Nathan Jones 27.
