THE Mulhern and Milnes combination did for Waterhead Warriors in Division Three of the Kingstone Press National Conference League.

Lee Mulhern and Josh Milnes scored two tries apiece and the latter also contributed five goals in Drighlington’s 30-14 victory at Peach Road. Waterhead could have climbed out of the bottom two with a win, but their efforts were ultimately in vain.

Ryan Ganley did go in for Waterhead five minutes remaining, but it was too little too late to have an impact on the outcome.

ANOTHER defeat away from home left Oldham St Anne’s at the foot of NCL Division Two, with Castleford Panthers scoring their first win of the season with a comprehensive 64-4 victory.

The signs were ominous in the opening quarter when four Saints mistakes resulted in four tries. With conversions added to a couple of the scores, Panthers were already in the ascendancy.

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors as they conceded four more tries, giving Panthers a healthy 38-0 lead at the break.

Saints’ forwards Carl Fields and Simon Topping put in a massive effort, but Panthers made use of the gaps out wide to pile on the pressure with two further tries and a conversion.

Mick Worrall’s side finally got themselves on the board with a Matt Whitehead try, but Panthers were far from finished and a further three scores and two goals secured an emphatic victory.

Pollock bagged four tries and a conversion, Liam Wiggins notched a treble, while Sean Gee and Ben Waring each recorded braces. Ryan Dyson and Jack Lee also touched down. Gee added five goals to his personal tally.

Saints will be hoping some of their more experienced players become available when they return to action after a two-week break.

SADDLEWORTH Rangers were brushed aside 64-10 in their NCL Division One clash at Myton Warriors.

The damage was done in the opening period as the mid-table home side forged 40 points clear.
