BOXING: DEDICATION is the name of the game for Andy Kremner as he looks forward to what is set to be a crucial stage of his professional boxing career.

Delph-based welterweight hopeful Kremner (22) extended his unbeaten record to five wins at the weekend when he overwhelmed tough Nottingham opponent Jack McCormack on points.

The John Murray-trained starlet, who hopes to be back in the ring by September, needs to knuckle down if his dreams of forging a successful career in boxing are to be realised.

He said: “I was really pleased with my performance against McCormack, but I know things have to get a lot, lot harder from now on. It’s about really stepping it up over the next three or four fights if I am to get up to that level required to be a success.

“Hopefully I’ll start knocking on that door quite soon, but from this moment on I’ve got to be permanently ready — I need to be 100 per cent tuned up. I’ve got to show total dedication. I’ve got to eat, sleep and breathe my sport if I am ever going to reach title level.”

Kremner took referee Mark Lyson’s decision 40 points to 36 following four smart rounds at the Victoria Warehouse.
