Bootle boys inflict more damage

CRICKET: MOORSIDE’S quest for a quarter-final place in the LCB Cup evaporated at home yesterday.
The hosts’ batsmen found themselves tied up in knots by Bootle’s bowlers in a match reduced to 43 overs a side after rain.
The third-round clash seemed to be going Moorside’s way after they reached 90 for two in reply to the visitors’ 230 for eight. But from a position of relative strength, they slipped to a disappointing 138 all out.
Moorside were the sole surviving Saddleworth and District Cricket League side in this year’s LCB Cup, and skipper Anchor said: “We were cruising, but then just fell away.”
Bootle, from the Liverpool Competition, have beaten three SDCL teams – Stayley, Uppermill and now Moorside - on the road to the last eight.
