ROYTON star Jessica Fullalove headed into her short summer break with superb performances at the Portuguese Nationals Open and the British Summer Championships in Sheffield.

At the Portuguese tournament, 18-year-old City of Manchester ace Fullalove won the top female swimmer award after taking three gold medals.

Backstroke specialist Fullalove won the 50m race in 28.80 seconds, seeing off second-placed Isabelle Sorensen by more than half a second.

The 200m gold medal was then won in an impressive two minutes, 10.82 seconds, with runner-up Sarah Bro almost two seconds behind.

Fullalove’s golden hat-trick was sealed in the 100m race as she surged to victory in 1:00.42, with Bro again second, in 1:02.46.

Fullalove earned 890 points to win the top female award by 64 points from Switzerland’s butterfly star Svenja Stoffel.

At the British Summer Championships, Fullalove again showed class as she took the gold medal in the women’s 19 years 200m backstroke event, extending her lead with every stroke in the final 50 metres.

Afterwards a clearly motivated Fullalove said: “It was really good. I wanted to go a little quicker, but I am really happy to have set a new personal best time.

“I’m looking forward to a break before heading into the 2016 season. The Olympics next year is definitely something I am thinking about and I am going to put myself in the best position to get there.”
