No complaints from Band at Mossley’s start

FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY joint-boss Peter Band has declared himself satisfied with his team’s start to the season.

The Lilywhites opened with a smart 2-0 win at Radcliffe before being held to a goalless home draw by big-spending Trafford in midweek, despite the visitors having two players sent off.

“We just couldn’t break down Trafford’s remaining men,” said Band. “They defended like Trojans, getting in loads of last-ditch tackles.

“It was a bit frustrating, but we’ve had a decent start to the season and we’re not really complaining with four points from the two games. We’ve looked a bit more solid at the back and it’s pleasing that we’ve secured a couple of clean sheets. There’s a good balanced look to the team.”

Another tough game beckons tomorrow, with Clitheroe arriving at Seel Park after winning both their opening games.

Band said: “There aren’t going to be any easy games in our division this season. It’s been like that for a few years now.”

Mossley have re-signed midfielder Luke Horrocks from Curzon Ashton and he has played well in both games so far. Mitchell Bryant is improving with every game having returned to the Lilywhites fold following his lengthy suspension.

CHADDERTON could do with a pick-me-up after they were comprehensively beaten 9-2 by AFC Liverpool in the FA Cup last weekend. They return to North-West Counties League First Division action with a trip to new club Whitchurch Alport. Both sides have just one point so far — Chaddy from two games and Alport from three.
