Adjustments for Beech on way to seven points

MOTORCYCLE RACING: OLDHAM speedster Ashley Beech pocketed another seven points after an exciting round nine of the National Superstock 1,000 Championship at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.

Cadwell’s twisty, undulating route through open park and woodland and even a mountain section, has marked it out as a racing favourite.

Moorside-based Beech attended a test day recently at Cadwell Park to establish a good set up for the bike, but an abundance of red flags and changeable weather meant he came away frustrated.

The bike performed better after some tweaking and Beech improved his lap times and finished 11th quickest to start from the fourth row on the grid.

But not all the issues were solved and the bike was a handful in tight corners. He nonetheless made a flying start in the race and was holding 11th place until another rider’s fall on lap three brought out red flags.

The resumption saw the race reduced to 11 laps and again the local rider made a good start - until a second accident brought the race to an end. SInce two-thirds had been run a result was declared and beech, then in ninth opace, was awarded seven points and a move to 12th in the championship table.

The next round of the championship is at Cheshire circuit Oulton Park in a fortnight’s time.
