CRICKET: IT has been a chastening season for Werneth and Oldham, both battling to avoid the wooden spoon in the Lake Garage CLL Championship.
Oldham, who have shown an alarming tendency to implode with the bat in recent weeks, currently bring up the rear. But they are only eight points behind their neighbours - the teams clash on the final day of the season, so despite their problems they still have something the play for.
Werneth too have batting issues. The team must find a way to get its act together at second-placed Middleton tomorrow and at home to Elton 24 hours later.
Oldham must channel all their energies into tomorrow’s trip to Elton as Sunday provides an open date.
