CRICKET: THE family of Bilal Malik, who lost his battle with cancer last year, organised a fund-raising dinner for Glodwick Cricket Club.
Malik was a popular member of the Warren Lane outfit and following his death at 23 a close relationship has developed between his family and the Glodwick club and their restaurant, the Pearl on Manchester Road, Audenshaw, attracted 130 people for a special event.
The evening raised £1,700 through tickets and a raffle. The money will help towards the extension currently being built on the side of the club’s pavilion in readiness for the inaugural Pennine Cricket League season, which gets under way in April.
