RUGBY: OLDHAM St Anne’s was the first side to reach the last four of the Napier Windows Ltd Standard Cup semi-finals.
Saints, with Sean Whitehead and Paul Ashton at the helm, beat Folly Lane 22-14 in awful weather conditions at Higginshaw Road. Matt Whitehead again impressed with his kicking skills for the hosts.
As well as scoring a try — Niall Collins and James Shaw also touched down — Whitehead landed three conversions and two penalties for a 14-point haul.
Two of the remaining first-round ties take place on Saturday, February 20, with Hollinwood hosting Rochdale Mayfield and Higginshaw welcoming Saddleworth Rangers. Fitton Hill Bulldogs versus Waterhead Warriors has yet to be arranged.
