SEVENTH DAN: Sensei Fred Jones.
PENNINE Shotokan Karate Club chief instructor Fred Jones has earned a ‘Nanadan’ – a hugely prestigious seventh dan award and one of the most senior grades in the country.
An instructor at Pennine Shotokan since it opened in 1983, Fred, an estate agent by day, secured his seventh dan thanks to his longstanding efforts and knowledge. He received his award from Sensei Charles Gidley and eighth dan chief instructor for the British Shotokan Kyogi.
