DARTS: OLDHAM recovered from a couple of early setbacks to defeat Blackpool 7-3 in the Lancashire Super Eights Elite League.
Jordan McAndrew, with a 4-3 win and a three-dart average of 77.77, levelled for the hosts, after ’Pool had taken the first head to head at the Blue Club, Chadderton.
The town team lost match three, but restored parity thanks to Gary Jackson’s 4-2 victory (76.50).
Ian Walters put Oldham in front for the first time with a 4-2 success — he averaged a superb 86.75 — only for ’Pool to draw level immediately. The hosts took control from that point on, though.
Dave Airey enjoyed a 4-1 triumph (84.03), before Gary Davey held his nerve in a 4-3 scoreline (70.71).
Jimmy Griffiths was equally as calm under pressure as he won 4-3 (71.20) and Paul Cartwright wrapped things up with a comfortable 4-1 victory (83.52). Although the title is beyond Oldham’s reach, they are on course to finish as runners-up.
Oldham are in action at Swinton Leisure on Sunday in a team knock-out event, while they return to league action on Sunday, May 8, with a trip to Lune Valley.
