FULL-BACK Gavin Dodd registered four tries as Saddleworth Rangers saw off visitors Stanningley to record a 42-22 win in Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Two.

Dodd, now 34 but still showing the skills that made him a popular figure at Oldham RL and Widnes, helped the hosts establish a firm grip on a contest against the second-bottom side from West Yorkshire.

By half-time, the Greenfield outfit had taken a 26-6 lead.

Dale Lowe touched down twice and Ash Wildman and Ethan Langhorn were also scorers, while Josh Bradbury ended up in double figure after kicking five goals.

Stanningley, 36-6 adrift entering the final quarter, at least responded late on. Their tries came from Josh Roberts (two), Tom Sharp and Sam Savage, with three conversions from Callum Smithson.

The victory means Craig Farrimond and Paul Geener's side have moved up to fifth in the table - only a point off Leigh East in second and with a game in hand.

In Division Three, Oldham St Anne's suffered a 36-24 defeat at Eastmoor Dragons.

The final scoreline was given a more respectable sheen thanks to a comeback from a 24-6 half-time deficit.

Adie Mulcahy scored a try and kicked six goals for the hosts, Kevin Brown went over twice and there were also tries from Joe Burns, Danny Johnson and Jamie Creed.

Saints' points came thanks to Matt Whitehead's try and four goals, added to tries by Callum Cashin, John Horton and Josh Dewsbury.

Waterhead's home match against Gateshead Storm in the same section was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
