THE hugely talented Davies brothers have again been making their mark on the green baize.

Royton pair Aaron, who turns 19 next week, and younger brother Ryan (14) both returned home from the Cue Ball Snooker and Pool Club in Derby trophy-laden at the end of the English Association of Snooker and Billiards (EASB) finals' day.

Ryan cruised to a thumping 5-0 victory against Portsmouth's Jamie Wilson in the English under-14s snooker final.

Proud dad Martin said: "Ryan didn't knock in any really huge breaks, but he was always in control of the match.

SUPERB

"It's been an unbelievable end to a superb effort to win the title.

"He could have been knocked out of the competition in the group stages a couple of months ago, but after securing five snookers in a frame to stay alive, he hasn't lost a single frame since!"

Ryan will now try to win the under-16s title in August.

University student Aaron won his fourth consecutive English Junior billiards title at the Cue Ball.

He beat Hartlepool rival Sean McAllister 463 points to 306, after rallying from an early 100 points deficit.

Dad Martin doesn't know how Aaron did it.

Martin said: "It was another great achievement by Aaron and I'm over the moon for him.

"What made the win more incredible was the fact that he had done a night shift at Tesco before heading off to Derby and securing the title.

"He's been working there part-time while he's working through his studies."

Throughout this week Martin is at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool with Aaron as he contests the English Pool Association World Championships.

Both Ryan and Aaron Davies practise at the Oldham Snooker Academy, Osborne Mill, Waddington Street, and are coached by Barry Broadbent.
