SUPER Delph bagged the first leg of what they hope will turn into a magical Drakes Huddersfield League trophy treble yesterday.

Skippered by 19-year-old Lancashire prospect Chris Laker, the Huddersfield Road men won the Twenty20 Trophy after overwhelming Broad Oak in front of another bumper home crowd.

Having won the toss and deciding to bat first in the late afternoon sunshine, Broad Oak were restricted a slightly below-par 154 for eight from their 20 overs.

Delph secured their first silverware of a still-unbeaten season so far after reaching their target with nine balls to spare.

TOP-SCORED

Shreevats Goswami top-scored with a smart 68 not out.

Back with regular front-man Andrew Gleave as captain, Delph will attempt to secure their second final success on Sunday when they face Shepley in the Sykes Cup showpiece.

That match will take place at Honley Cricket Club.

Meanwhile, Delph menacingly extended their lead at the top of the Premiership standings to nine points on Saturday as they won by six wickets at Scholes.

KNOCK

The hosts took first knock and scored 161 for eight, with Shakir Muhammad the star with that ball as he took four for 47.

In reply, Delph cruised to 166 for four as Graeme Simpson top-scored with 48 not out.

Delph's next league assignment on Saturday sees them host relegation-threatened Shelley.

WOODHOUSES roared to an easy victory against Worsley on Saturday in the Greater Manchester League Division One.

Chasing a target of only 88, 'Houses didn't lose a wicket as they surged to victory inside 10 overs.

Tylor Trenoweth was the undoubted star for the Belfields outfit, taking five wickets for 33 and scoring 56 with the bat.

The six points secured lifted Woodhouses above Elton into eight place in the table, just one point adrift of Worsley.
