IMPRESSIVE Oldham triumphed 20-5 at Upper Eden in their latest North Lancashire and Cumbria League assignment.

The task that awaited the visitors was tough as Upper Eden completed the double over Oldham last season, but this time round the tables were turned by Gareth Barber's unbeaten men.

Oldham broke the deadlock after 10 minutes when Rob Froggatt picked up at the back of a scrum deep in the Eden 22 and slipped the ball to Will Mellor, who in turn put Max Horsfall in at the corner unopposed.

Callum Megram's conversion hit the post so Oldham led 5-0.

Despite their territorial advantage, Oldham only managed to add a Megram penalty to the scoreboard before the break for an 8-0 lead.

Soon after the restart a kick to the corner and a catch and drive ended with excellent Upper Eden flanker Biza Manyoshamajokweni touching down.

Fortunately, Oldham eventually put this setback behind them and quickly got back to business.

The turning point arrived with 15 minutes remaining when the home line was finally breached by John Souter, who powered over from close range for a converted score.

Oldham extended the lead to 20-5 when Luke Roscoe bounced off several tacklers to touch down in the corner.
