Luke Swann the director of Oldham-based education and publishing company, The Prologue, has been shortlisted for the BQ National Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the North-West region.

Mr Swann, 28, adds this shortlisting to a recent coup in the Great British Entrepreneur Award of the Year for Innovation due to work on his community for children, which aims to become the largest free world education system, ushering a new era for children.

Established in June, The Prologue was created to change the landscapes of education and society by truly empowering children, nurturing their well-being and guiding their thinking beyond what is currently considered possible.

Having grown up around poverty in Limeside, Mr Swann said: “Children are born into a complex world and forced into an antiquated education system they have very little control of and which fails many of them.

“If we are to properly prepare them for the problems we have always faced and the ones we face today and tomorrow, such as post-Brexit Britain, we must make considerable changes to how we educate our children and how they are positioned in society.”

The Prologue begins by providing children with the magical experience of being the hero in their own inspiring personalised story where take control of their destiny, followed by core educational resources and an innovative educational model that makes their dreams reality. The community for children is the first to offer this all for free in their ambitious journey to make children the present and not just the future.

Dave Townsley, group account director at BQ, said: “This year we were blown away by the calibre of entrepreneurs who are nominated.

“It is clear that the spirit of entrepreneurship is alive and well, and we are delighted to be able to highlight the stories of our emerging entrepreneurs this way. It promises to be an exciting night.”

The winners of BQ’s regional and national awards will be announced at the BQ Entrepreneur Festival.
