Date published: 02 February 2018

Officers are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a missing Oldham man.

Despite the best efforts of officers Bernard Gaunt still hasn’t been found.

The 51-year-old originally went missing about 2.30am on Friday 26 January 2018 on Werneth Hall Road.

He was sighted at Yeoman Hey Reservoir at 2.30pm on Saturday 27 January.

He is described as 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build with short greying hair.

Bernard is believed to be wearing a black jacket with beige coloured trousers and brown wooden beads around his neck. He may also be wearing a black cap, black boots and carrying a black rucksack.

Detective Inspector Ian Harratt, of GMP’s Oldham borough, said: “We’ve been searching for Bernard since he was first reported missing a number of days ago now and unfortunately we haven’t found him yet.

“His family are beside themselves with worry and we want to make sure he is safe.

“If you think you’ve seen Bernard, or anyone matching his description, then please contact police immediately.

“If Bernard sees this appeal, I would also urge him to make contact with us or his family to let us know he is ok.”

Anyone with information about Bernard’s whereabouts is asked to contact police on 0161 856 8922 or 101, quoting MP/18/0113028. Reports can also be made anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
