Derker-based Sarah Shepherd has spoken of her excitement after being selected for finals day at the UK-wide ‘Top Model’ competition.

Top Model (UK and Worldwide) is a premier established model search competition and is now in its 11th year hugely successful year of discovering new model talent and changing lives.

The 2018 search will reach its climax at the Hilton London Metropole show finals on April 6 and 7.

The weekend will include three spectacular shows featuring the 2018 finalists, while designers from both the UK and global fashion industry will grace the runway.

A host of major awards will once again be up for grabs for the finalists.

Sarah, a shop assistant at Aldi, is bursting with excitement ahead of her big chance to shine at the Top Model finals.

She said: “I’ve been for a couple of photo shoots in the past, but nothing anywhere near as big as these modelling finals.

“I am ecstatic at the prospect of going down to London.

“I was really shocked when I found out. It has given me a new-found confidence.

“I am really looking forward to the finals.

“I am a busy working mum and I adore my little boy. You can achieve anything you want to if you work for it, though, and being a parent does not stop you chasing your dreams.

“If anything, it helps you pursue them and that’s what I am doing now.”

Top Model is not a beauty pageant, but prides itself on a pure model search ethos.

Full training is given to all finalists and all of the top prizes and opportunities are focused on the fashion, beauty and model industries.

The grand finalist selections and awards are all decided by industry experts, not by public voting.

Each year, Top Model adopts a chosen charity to support.

For 2018, Top Model will support leading childhood cancer charity, Children with Cancer UK.
