Date published: 26 February 2018

Two men threatened a member of staff with a bat and a knife during an armed robbery in Chadderton.

Shortly before 6.45am on Sunday, February 4, police were called to reports of an armed robbery at the One Stop Store on Butler Green.

Two men armed with a knife and a wooden bat entered the shop and forced two employees to the office at the back of the store.

The offenders then stole a large quantity of cash and cigarettes and fled through the back door in a silver Vauxhall Corsa in the direction of Fields New Road.

Nobody was injured during this robbery.

Officers have released CCTV images (above) and are appealing to anyone with any information.

Detective Constable Blair Patterson, of GMP’s Oldham borough, said: “It is completely shocking that employees were subjected to this attack in their place of work.

“I appreciate this happened early in the morning and the area wasn’t particularly busy, but if anyone saw anyone acting suspiciously or has any information that could assist our investigation then please contact police.

“I would also urge anyone who saw a car matching the description in the area throughout the morning or anyone who recognises anything from the CCTV images to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 514 of 04/02/18, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
