Go Yellow and support Marie Curie's Great Daffodil Appeal

Date published: 02 March 2018

Marie Curie is encouraging people in Oldham to Go Yellow for just one day in support of those living with terminal illnesses, to mark the charity's annual Great Daffodil Appeal.

On the March 16, people in schools and workplaces across the country will be shunning clothes of all other colours in favour of the freshest yellow fashions.

They’ll be holding quizzes, bake sales, and more, to raise money to help Marie Curie be there for more people who need their care and support.

So whether you’ll be in head-to-toe yellow, sporting a yellow-painted face, or just wearing a few tasteful yellow accessories, the charity wants YOU to take part.

Marie Curie provides vital care for those living with terminal illnesses, and their families.

But the charity says that greater awareness is needed as one in four people in the UK currently don't receive the support they need and deserve at the end of their life*.

Lynn Partridge, a Marie Curie Community fundraiser for Oldham, said: "We can't wait to see everyone's yellow outfits on the day.

"I've already got mine picked out so I’m ready!

"It's a really fun way to get involved with our Great Daffodil Appeal and I hope that those who Go Yellow on the day will feel that they are part of something big and doing a really amazing thing.

"Having as many people as possible involved with Let’s Go Yellow will help us highlight the needs of those living with a terminal illness, and their families.

"It's something that will affect practically everybody at some point in their lives but sadly not everyone currently gets the support they need.

"Let’s Go Yellow is also about raising awareness of what Marie Curie does and hopefully making things better.”

So that as many people as possible Go Yellow on the day, Marie Curie are currently seeking enthusiastic trendsetters to sign up for a fundraising pack and get their school, family, friends and colleagues involved.

Those wishing to sign-up to the campaign can visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/letsgoyellow or call 0800 716 146.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading charity for people with any terminal illness.

The charity helps people living with a terminal illness and their families make the most of the time they have together by delivering expert hands-on care, emotional support, research and guidance.
