11 arrested following drug raids

11 people have been arrested following drug raids in Greater Manchester and Staffordshire.

A total of 11 people have been arrested today (Thursday) following drug raids in Greater Manchester and Staffordshire.

Officers executed searches at nine addresses across Staffordshire, Manchester, Oldham and Salford as part of a crackdown on drugs code-named Operation Friction.

The investigation is being led by the Serious and Organised Crime Group which targets organised crime networks supplying drugs across the UK.

The eight men and three women were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply controlled Drugs.

They all remain in custody for questioning.

It follows raids on Tuesday (March 6) which saw ten people – eight men and two women – charged and remanded in custody for conspiracy to supply drugs and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice offences.

Detective Inspector Tony Norman of GMP’s Serious and Organised Crime Group, said: “A further 11 people are now in custody following raids earlier this morning.

“Again, this investigation wouldn’t be successful without the help and support of local communities.

“We will never tolerate drugs on our streets and we will do everything we can to stamp it out.

“If you suspect drug dealing in your area please report it to police immediately.”
