Police search for sex offender who could be on the run in Oldham

Date published: 06 April 2018

A man who could be in Oldham is among 19 registered sex offenders from Greater Manchester who are currently on the run.

Greater Manchester Police have now issued the identities of ten offenders, in a bid to track them down.

The other nine are not being identified for operational reasons, as to do so could jeopardise their arrest.

Brian Warren is aged 61, and it is thought he could be in the Oldham area.

He also has links to Greater Manchester.

Officers are searching for Warren after he breached the terms of his sex offender notification requirements.

He was released from prison on licence in 2014 after being convicted of sexual assault in 2011.

The other nine offenders are:

Child rapist Tariq Javed (40) of Aspinall Street, Rusholme.

Mohammed Yaqub (52) of Radcliffe Road in Bolton.

Liam Fitzgerald (23) of no fixed abode.

Abdullah Alkhladi (60), who was convicted for sexual assault in his absence at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on February 12, 2005.

David Griffiths (37), who has links to Manchester city centre.

Asad Alam (41) is wanted for failing to appear at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court on July 4, 2009 following a sexual assault in Droylsden.

Ali Nassor Doran (56) of Worsley Grove, Levenshulme.

Omar Aljufry (38), who is known to have links to Manchester.

Ali Hdjan (35) of Cable Street, Bolton.

Police have lost tabs on nearly 500 registered sex offenders in Britain.

Figures released by 41 police forces show the number of convicted sex offenders whose whereabouts are unknown is 485, a jump of more than 20-per-cent in the last three years.

Registered sex offenders must inform police of their addresses and are subject to monitoring by authorities who manage certain sexual and violent criminals living in communities.
