Teenage boy charged over Oldham Metrolink attack

Police investigating an attack at Derker Metrolink Tram Stop just over a month ago have charged a teenage boy.
At 7.30pm on Thursday 22nd March, officers were called to Derker Metrolink stop on Cromford Street to reports that a man in his 40s had been attacked.
The man was taken to hospital where he was found to have a fractured skull and badly severed ear. He is now said to be in a stable condition at home.
Now police have charged a 15-year old boy from Oldham, who cannot be named for legal reasons, with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
He’s due to appear at Tameside Youth Court on Tuesday 1st May 2018.
A 16-year old boy was also arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
He remains on bail pending further enquiries until 14th May 2018.
