Heatwave set to continue

Date published: 29 June 2018

Oldham sun-worshippers will be delighted to hear that there’s no real sign of the current heatwave ending any time soon.

Today (Friday) is set to be another scorcher.

It’s building into another hot day with plenty of sunshine and a slight easterly breeze.

Temperatures could well reach 30 degrees towards the middle of the afternoon.

The further west of Oldham you are the hotter it will be.

Tonight more low cloud will drift in from the North Sea and cover most of central and eastern Britain, but it will be staying clearer in the west and for Northern Ireland.

The Greater Manchester fire fighters still on Saddleworth Moor might not thank us for saying it, but the hot theme is set to continue until well after the weekend and into next week.

The low cloud will clear quickly tomorrow morning, with another sunny afternoon expected allowing for some warm temperatures.

Sunday will see another mostly sunny day in the north-west, though some afternoon cloud will be developing in the south and south-west, along with a risk for showers in the south-west.

It is set to turn very hot in the south-east.

There will be more Oldham sunshine and Monday and Tuesday, but a risk of showers in south-west England and south Wales.

Looking further ahead, there is no significant rain forecast for our area until the week after next at the earliest.

Please go easy with your water consumption.
