Ezmi Mulhearn has braved the big chop

An Assistant Directorate Manager at the Royal Oldham Hospital had a definite case of Bieber Fever when she decided to cut off her fabulous 20-inch hair all in aid of charity.

Ezmi Mulhearn, an Assistant Directorate Manager in the Vascular Unit at the hospital, decided to swap her long hair for a Justin Bieber style cut, all in aid of the Little Princess Trust, and she managed to raise an impressive £759.76 for the charity in the process.

She donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, who provide free wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair to cancer and other illnesses.

The charity has provided over 6,000 free wigs to date.

Ezmi said: “I saw someone on Facebook donate their hair to the charity and thought that it looked like a wonderful charity to support.

"Working in the hospital, I see the fantastic job our frontline teams do every day with our patients and I was really inspired to do something, however small, that could help make things a little bit better for children having a tough time due to illness.

"The Little Princess Trust provides free wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer and other illnesses.

"They take donations of hair to do this, but each wig they make costs around £350-£500 to make, so I thought that a sponsored haircut would kill two birds with one stone!

"Although I loved my long hair, I thought that helping a little girl who is having an incredibly brave battle with an illness would appreciate it and love the chance to feel like a princess.”

Ezmi is having a little fun in the process and is encouraging people to donate to the cause by posting a silly photo of her in a Justin Bieber pose for every £50 raised above her target.
