Oldham pair jailed after leaving shop workers fearing for their lives

Two female shop workers have told Manchester Crown Court that they feared they would be shot dead when two masked men burst into their store demanding money.

The men, both from Oldham, worked together in robbing the One Stop Store on Moston Lane East in New Moston on Sunday, June 10.

Thirty-three-year old Daniel Ennis, from Failsworth, entered the store at around 6.35pm when it was empty, armed with a crowbar and imitation firearm and demanded the women empty the contents of the till.

While this was happening 53-year old Dennis Medley, from Royton, was acting as a look-out.

The pair fled the scene with around £400 but were quickly arrested by officers after they viewed CCTV images and traced their getaway car.

In victim impact statements heard in court, one of the women said she feared for her daughter’s future as Ennis pointed what she thought was a real gun at her.

Both men admitted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm and were jailed for six years each.
