Attack victim in an induced coma

A man was in the smoking area of Tiger Tiger at the Printworks when a dispute took place between him and three other men

A man who was punched once during a night out in the city centre is in an induced coma in hospital.

In the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) a 24-year-old man was in the smoking area of Tiger Tiger at the Printworks when a dispute took place between him and three other men.

The dispute continued as the four of them moved along Shudehill and when they reached a multi-storey car park on High Street, the 24-year-old was punched once and fell to the ground.

He hit his head on the pavement and fell unconscious before being taken to hospital where he remains in an induced coma.

Detectives investigating the incident are reviewing footage from CCTV and those who filmed the incident this morning and are keen to speak to anyone who knows who the three men are or has any information that would assist the investigation.

Detective Inspector Gary Smith of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “Although this wasn’t a sustained attack, in just a short period of time and just one punch, a man’s life could be changed forever.

“Violence is absolutely never the answer, whether it’s part of a dispute or not and those who think that it is, will be pursued and made to face the consequences of their behaviour.  

“While the man remains in hospital with his family by his bedside, I’d urge anyone who knows who is responsible for this attack or anyone who has footage of it that hasn’t yet been in touch with us, to call us immediately.”
