Date published: 17 August 2018

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation after a video was posted on social media showing a schoolboy being stripped down to his underwear and beaten before being robbed in Chadderton.

It was at around 8.20pm on Monday (August 13) when the 12-year old was walking with friends along Under Lane, near Drury Lane in Chadderton, when he was approached by a gang of teenagers.

The attackers, understood to be aged between 15 and 16, surrounded the boy before starting to beat him, including removing a belt and hitting him with it.

They stripped the boy down to his underwear while the ordeal was being filmed and posted on Snapchat.

Officers in Oldham have said the victim was kicked as well as being hit with a belt.

The gang fled with the schoolboy’s trainers, phone, t-shirt, chain and bracelet.

Anyone with information about what happened is being urged to contact police on 101, or anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
