M60 lanes now open again between Denton and Bredbury

UPDATE: The M60 motorway between Danton and Bredbury is now open again so traffic congestion is easing.

Oldham drivers planning to head south on the M60 motorway are urged to think again following an ongoing incident on the motorway.

The M60 is currently closed between Junction 24 (Denton) and Junction 25 (Bredbury) due to 'an ongoing @nwmwaypolice led incident', according to social media posts.

Roads around the south of Oldham and into Ashton in Tameside are currently packed with motorists trying to find alternative routes.

Earlier on, one driver posted on 'X': "M60 down to one lane at Stockport anticlockwise and no traffic on other side - AVOID."

Stagecoach has said a number of its services are affected by the incident on the M60 this morning.

If that wasn't enough motorway misery, all lanes of traffic have stopped on the M6 northbound in Cheshire following a serious multi-car crash earlier.
