Liquid and Envy nightclub set to reopen within weeks

Date published: 24 February 2024

Less than a month after the then owners confirmed that the popular Liquid and Envy nightclub in the centre of Oldham was to close its doors for good, it's been announced that the venue will swing open its doors again for revellers on March 8.

Liquid and Envy on Retiro Street announced its immediate closure on February 2, with employees facing job losses.

The venue, which was the last remaining club in Oldham, was one of 17 sites to be closed by Rekom UK, a nightlife empire that claims it is struggling with rising running costs.

However, new owners announced on the club's dedicated Facebook page yesterday (Friday) that the nightclub is set to re-open imminently.

A post read: "Have you missed us?

"Liquid & Envy returns on Friday 8th March!

"The legendary DJs are returning, and stay tuned for our fresh lineup of events coming your way!

"The countdown is officially on. #LiquidEnvyReturns."

A new lease has reportedly been agreed between the landlord and York-based Kevin Spencer, who has 30 years of experience in the industry of running nightclubs and bars.

Mr Spencer said he heard about Liquid and Envy's closure andwanted to make a move quickly.

He said: "Situations like this are pretty rare, the club wasn't losing money.

"It's a very popular venue which hasn't had any investment over the past 20 years."
