Stars of TV soaps, UK classics and children’s television will be in the spotlight at the popular village fundraiser, the Diggle Scarecrow Trail, this Easter.

The trail, now in its fifth year, is due to start again on Friday, March 29 with the theme “all things television”.

And Tracy Buckley, the enthusiastic trail organiser and chair of the Friends of Diggle School, said: ”This year we have 34 fantastic scarecrows lined up from all eras and genres of TV, including Reality, UK classics, Only Fools And Horses, Fawlty Towers and lots of children’s TV favourites.

“Redrow have kindly sponsored some prizes and all the sweet treats for the trail, and Grandpa Greene's and Diggle Lock have provided some fantastic prizes.”

Over the last five years FODS have raised thousands of pounds by the enterprising initiative and provided a host of support facilities for children at the school.

And this year, a whole school trip is being planned to Chester Zoo.

Tracy added: ”Trail sheets cost just £3 each and can be used repeatedly throughout the event to revist on different times and days.”

Visitors can pre-pay for trail sheets by clicking here

They can then be picked up any time from Grandpa Greene's, the Gate Inn, Diggle Lock or the Diggle Hotel.

Saddleworth School have kindly let the trail use their car park for the duration of the trail which runs to April 14, and organizers ask people to please use this free facility to keep the village free from traffic gridlock.
