Four films on at the cinema from Friday November 4, plus one you probably didn't know about

So, you've had a good bonfire weekend and want to watch a film at the cinema this week?

Here's four films to consider, including one that came out last week, plus a bonus one:

The Accountant (15): A brilliant mathematics savant and accountant with social issues and a sideline in weapons and close quarters combat deals with some financial irregularities in his latest job.

This film does read like a Batman movie and it's been said that Ben Affleck appears to be doing a cross between Will Hunting and Jason Bourne - both roles made famous by his good friend Matt Damon.

This is an entertaining action thriller that just about rises above genre schlock although the plot doesn't always make sense in what appears to be a dry run for Affleck's forthcoming appearance as Batman in a standalone DC Universe movie.

Real life accountants should tune in for a slice of excitement and what-if fantasy fun over and above their usual dealings with Excel spreadsheets.

A Street Cat named Bob (12A): Based on a international best-selling book this is the true story of how James Bowen, a busker and recovering drug addict, had his life transformed when he met a stray ginger cat.

While it's not as hard hitting as Ken Loach's "I, Daniel Blake", this adaptation of James Bowen's memoirs is instead a feel-good comedy drama. It's an uplifting real-life tale and definitely one for cat lovers.

Trolls (U): Poppy and Branch set off to rescue their friends after Bergens invade Troll village.

Anybody remember trolls? The fuzzy haired mini dolls that became such a part of pop-culture from the 80s that one even turns up in The Guardians of the Galaxy.

This is a relentlessly colourful and happy kids movie that will please young children. Just don't expect to remember much about it afterwards.

ALREADY OUT THIS WEEK:

Doctor Strange (12A): A former neurosurgeon embarks on a journey of healing only to be drawn into the mystic arts.

Benedict Cumberbatch leads the British invasion into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with an effects heavy, mind bending entry into the franchise which draws heavily from Batman Begins, Inception and The Matrix.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT:

Nocturnal Animals (15): An art gallery owner is haunted by her ex-husband's novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a veiled threat and a symbolic revenge tale.

A densely plotted and highly stylised film written and directed by Tom Ford - his first film since A Single Man (2009) - and adapted from a book, this sees Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal in starring roles.

Multiple oscar nominee Adams plays the owner of an LA art gallery who receives a manuscript for a novel from her ex-husband (played by Gyllenhaal).

She's married to a philandering husband and is bored with her life until she receives her ex-husband's novel which intrigues and horrifies her.

The film splits off into different strands, with Adams' gallery owner reading her ex-husband's novel and seeing the extent of his strong feelings about their own chequered history together played out.

There's a great supporting cast of characters played by Hollywood talent from Laura Linney to Isla Fisher, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Michael Shannon.
