VIOLINIST Esther Yoo swept on to the stage at the Bridgewater Hall to give an unforgettable debut performance with the Halle Orchestra on Saturday.
At 20, the American-Korean violinist, who already holds many international titles, held the audience spellbound with a tremendous recital of Bruch’s Violin Concerto.
Superbly supported by the Halle, this popular piece provided the ideal showcase for Yoo to demonstrate the combination of flair and virtuosity which has catapulted her to the top of her game.
Under the baton of Wyn Davies, the concert focused on orchestral masterpieces, featuring some of the best-known work from composers ranging from Rossini and Grieg to Wagner and Sibelius.
Yoo’s interpretation of Bruch left her audience wanting more, and they weren’t disappointed.
She reappeared during the second half to play a stunning rendition of Camille Saint-Saens’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, a piece calling for breathtaking virtuosity and deftly carried off by Yoo with brilliant skill and talent.
Tremendous to see and hear two fabulous pieces from a young violinist who is sure to be a name to watch for the future.
