Get your name down for the Regeneration Brainery

Oldham’s young people are being urged to get their foot in the door of Greater Manchester’s booming property sector by taking part in a free week-long workshop next month.

The ‘Regeneration Brainery’ is an immersive workshop for 17-20-year-olds, aimed at setting young people from a range of backgrounds on a path to a career in the built environment.

Young people are encouraged to put themselves forward as a ‘brainee’ ahead of the programme to be held between April 3-7 in central Manchester.

The Brainery matches young people with industry mentors, who – be they architects, property developers or masterplanners – each have a hand in shaping our towns and cities.

But this isn’t some stuffy seminar. The programme includes visits to construction sites; interactive workshops; visits to workplaces of industry professionals; and practical skills to get ahead in the industry.

It’s the brainchild of Capital & Centric, the Manchester-based property developers behind plans to transform five of the city’s oldest industrial buildings into the coolest places to live and work.

People with an interest in built environment, including subjects such as development, architecture, planning, interior and exterior design, construction, communications, and property services should take part.

Capital & Centric co-founder Tim Heatley said: "Regeneration shapes the places where we work, live and play … creating the cities and towns of the future.

"Yet, young people often don’t aspire for a career in the sector purely because they don’t know about how exciting it can be.

“The Regeneration Brainery goes some way toward matching the everyday heroes regenerating our cities with young people eager to get some experience.

"Best of all, it’s completely free and we do it in a fun way.

“I really hope young people from Oldham will join in.

"The industry needs new ideas and solutions from a whole range of backgrounds – it’s down to the next generation to get fired up about what can be achieved.”

Young people are encouraged to apply by March 21 - via the link: https://regenerationbrainery.co.uk/ - and completing an application form.
