Shaw Cricket Club is on a recruitment drive for boys and girls to join their thriving junior section.
The club is celebrating the recent award of a Kerrching grant from the local council and achieving 'Quality in Action' award status which will help the club improve standards in the junior section and enable them to promote the game in local schools.
The recently launched junior academy is aimed at any youngsters, both boys and girls from six years old who are interested in an introduction to cricket.
A club spokesman said: “We are focused on creating an atmosphere that is both fun and inclusive, where everyone is having fun while learning new skills and making new friends."
There are currently indoor sessions for six-11-year-olds being run on Tuesday nights at Crompton House school sports hall (6-7pm) until the end of March.
After Easter, outdoor sessions will run on Friday nights up at the clubs ground at Holebottom Clough under the watchful eye of the club's level 3 head coach John Partington, from Lancashire County Cricket Club.
Are you already playing cricket?
The club is also looking for junior players in school years 7 through to year 11 who are looking for a new club and a new challenge to come to play for the U11s, U13s and U15s teams as it enters the Greater Manchester Premier League this season.
