Stunner for Chaddy

Chadderton were denied a point in dramatic fashion as Jack Ward’s disallowed last minute effort meant Prestwich Heys ran out 3-2 winners in a nail-biting showdown at the ARK Fleetech Stadium.
Despite earlier strikes from Ryan Shenton and Joe Richards, the hosts were unable to salvage anything from the game as Alfie Belcher’s brace, along with a further goal from Rio Wilson-Heyes, ensured Heys cruised to third place in the Hallmark Security League First Division table.
However, David Fish’s side will feel aggrieved not to have earned a point as Ward’s stoppage time strike was controversially ruled out.
Former FC United man Ward’s left-footed effort looked destined for the top corner, but the referee opted to blow for full-time just before the ball flew into the back of the net - much to the frustration of Chadderton’s players and supporters alike.
Chaddy boss Fish took to Twitter to express his views on the defeat.
He said: “Absolute Jekyll and Hyde performance. Terrible first half and lucky still to be in the game.
“On top second half and should have at least picked up a point. Oh, for some consistency.
"Man of the Match and a goal on his full debut for Joe Richards.”
The Reds have the chance to return to winning ways when they travel to Abbey Hulton United next Thursday (kick-off 8pm).
