Derby day stalemate at Chaddy Park

Date published: 09 April 2018

It was derby day in the Tameside League with Chadderton Park under-17s Cobras drawing 1-1 at home against the club's under-17s Eagles in what was a hugely entertaining game.

The Cobras took the lead when Max Moore crashed home from close range.

This spurred the Eagles into action and a sublime pass from Kade May set up Aaron Eccles, who fired home with a superb strike to make it 1-1.

Chadderton Park's under-18s were knocked out of the Bolton Cup at the semi-final stage when they lost a dramatic penalty shoot-out 5-4 at home to Woodbank Juniors.

The game finished 2-2 after 90 minutes. Jac Bromby and Joseph Ray were on target for the Eagles.

Park had the chance to win the game in normal time, but they missed a late penalty.

Chadderton Park under-14s Lions had an emphatic 8-2 win away at Littleborough Yellows in the North Bury League.

Lawrence Arthur slotted home to make it 1-0.

Dalton Martins made it 2-0 with a superb shot, and it was soon three as Adam Belwassa wriggled through to score.

It was 4-0 just before half time when superb wing play from Lewis North allowed Belwassa a simple tap-in.

North made it 5-0 early in the second half, before a further hat-trick by Belwassa completed the rout, with Littleborough scoring their two goals in between.

Park's under-13s Griffins kept up the pressure at the top of the Premier League table with a superb 7-3 win away at Ramsbottom United.

The Griffins played some brilliant football on a mud bath of a pitch, with the goals coming from James Litten (two), Ollie Havens (two), Kamen Ray, Callum Jones and Jacob May.

Park's under-12s Dragons reached the League Cup semi-finals thanks to a 3-1 penalty shoot-out win at home to Radcliffe Borough Aces after an evenly contested game finished 1-1 at the end of normal time.

After a first half of few chances, the deadlock was finally broken in the second half when Josef Cunningham was fouled in the box and Lewis Newton calmly slotted home the resulting penalty.

Radcliffe continued to push for an equaliser and deservedly got one with seconds remaining.

The Dragons then dominated the penalty shoot-out with converted spot-kicks from Alfie McMylor, Cunningham and Frank Gibbons.

Gibbons then made two tremendous saves to send the Dragons through.

In the North Manchester Girls' League, Chadderton Park under-17 Lionesses lost 3-0 away at Crompton in the Round Robin League Cup.

Park's under-13 Girls suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to SK Vipers.

The Park goal came from the referee's girl of the game Anna Keeling.
