Local prospect Xander Selby has been selected for the North of England Under-15 squad which will compete at the famous Bunbury Cricket Festival from August 6.

Xander currently plays for Lancashire under-15s where he is the joint leading wicket-taker in ECB Royal London County Cup with two games left to play.

He also plays for Delph and Dobcross CC in the Drakes Huddersfield League.

He has taken 31 first XI wickets so far this summer, while he also captains the Oldham District under-15 team, who are through to the final of the Lancashire County Cup.

It is no surprise, then, that Xander is one of the five boys from Lancashire who will have the chance to play at the  ECB Bunbury Cricket Festival at Millfield School next month.

The festival involves four teams: London and East, South and West, Midlands, and North.

These teams are represented by 56 of the most talented under-15 cricketers from England and Wales, who will compete in 50-over and T20 matches.

The platform is invaluable in terms of education and is an integral stage in the England and Wales Cricket Board's Player Pathway.

This year the festival was renamed to reflect its founder David English and will be held in Millfield, one of the leading UK independent schools known for its sporting prestige.
