Bargains galore at baby and children's retail event

Date published: 12 February 2018

Mums and dads, grans and grandads will be flocking to Oasis Academy on February 25, between 1-3pm, to get their hands on a whole host of baby and children’s bargains at a fraction of their retail cost.

The award-winning mum2mum Market nearly new sale, which has been running in Royton for over a year, has now expanded its operations to Hollinwood and will be hosting a sell-out, 30-stall event.

Nearly new sales are a great place to pick up top-branded items at a fraction of their retail price.

With large items like designer prams selling for around a third of the new price and baby and children's clothes from just 50p, parents can save thousands of pounds on kitting out their kids.

All the stalls are manned by local mums, dads, aunties and uncles who recycle on their children's outgrown clothes, toys, books and equipment to other families and they keep 100% off the profits.

Owner of the Oldham franchise, Kelly Dronsfield, said: “The latter part of 2017 saw a massive increase in demand for stalls, and in buyer numbers.

"This is an ideal time to expand and build on the market’s success and launch a venue with a potentially new audience.

"These sales should be of great benefit to the families of Hollinwood, Limeside, Failsworth and Hathershaw with this venue being in such close proximity.”

She added, “Having a baby is an exciting but expensive time with some families having to take out finance just to afford the essentials like prams and cots.

"Our sales take away some of that strain by allowing buyers to purchase top-branded items at a fraction of the price.”

The sales also provide a great opportunity for local businesses to promote their classes, products and services to local families with options such as advertising the goodybags, booking a business stall or sponsoring a sale.

The February sale will see repeat stallholder and photographer, Jude Gidney, promote her gorgeous children’s and family photography. Crescent Creations will be selling their bespoke children’s gifts and much-loved hair accessory maker Little Crafty Caterpillar Hair will be returning with their beautiful bows and headbands.

Much-needed refreshments will be provided by Traybakes and Treats and baby-wearing experts, Nature Vs Nurture Sling Library will be offering advice and selling some of their slings off at a reduced price.

Mum2mum Market sales are also attended by staff from the Children’s Society staff from the shop in Shaw.

The ladies ask stall holders to kindly donate anything that isn’t sold to the Charity for it to be sold in the shop.

The charity has been amazed with people’s generosity thus far and are very much looking forward to the February sale.
