Emmaus Mossley focus on all things local

Date published: 09 April 2018

Homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley is preparing for a special event on Saturday, April 28, when they hope to shine a light on all things local.

The ‘Love Local Celebration and Sale’ will feature people, artists, musicians and organisations based in Mossley and the surrounding area.

The day-long event will also highlight the rich history of the town and include interesting sale items such as pictures, photographs and music with a connection to the local area.

On the day there will be local interest displays, craft artists, live music, talks from local historians, charity raffle and much more.

Mossley Industrial Heritage Centre will be open along with the Emmaus Mossley Collectables Room and Lucie’s Café serving drinks, cakes and food with a local twist.

Hazel Hodkinson, Shop Manager at Emmaus Mossley, said: “This event will kick-start a week-long celebration of the past, present and future of Mossley and the surrounding area.

"We hope that our supporters and attendees will discover interesting people, projects, groups and things happening right now and possibly learn something new about the past.”

Companions – formerly homeless people who live and work at Emmaus – with staff and volunteers will handpick the best local interest items and vintage pieces to create unique displays to present the best of what Emmaus Mossley has to offer.

Emmaus Mossley supports 26 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home and work in a community setting.

The charity runs a social enterprise in Mossley, selling donated and upcycled furniture, household goods and vintage wares.

The ‘Love Local Celebration and Sale’ event will take place on April 28 from 9am at Emmaus Mossley, Longlands Mill, Queen Street, Mossley OL5 9AH.
