Council leader salute for new Broadway Green development

Date published: 25 July 2018

Representatives from Oldham Council have visited Redrow’s new development in Chadderton, where work on 100 new homes has just started.

Eager buyers have already been reserving new homes off-plan at ‘pre-show home prices’ in the initial phase at Fox Meadows, ahead of the show home opening early next year.

The first properties will be completed for people to move into next spring.

Leader of Oldham Council, Cllr Sean Fielding, principle surveyor Liz Garsrud and Mike Coulter of F O Developments met with sales director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire) Claire Jarvis and area sales manager Lorraine Moore to view the burgeoning venture as part of a tour of the wider £100 million Broadway Green site.

Broadway Green will eventually feature up to 500 new homes and 700,000 sq ft of employment space on land off Foxdenton Lane.

The development is also expected to create around 2,000 new jobs and will feature a 25 acre park.

Councillor Fielding said: “This is exactly the kind of investment I want for Oldham so we can continue to move forward and thrive as a borough.

“I’m determined to create jobs on our doorstep for local people to access and also see new homes built which provide for Oldhamers to move up the property ladder without having to move out of the borough.

“This development ticks both boxes. Redrow’s new homes are exactly the kind of aspirational housing of which there is too little in Oldham and I welcome the choice that Fox Meadows will offer people.

"On top of this, it will also generate more than £850,000 every year in additional Council Tax income.

“These new homes and jobs place Oldham firmly on the map as an aspirational place to live, work and do business.”

For its part, Redrow is building 97 three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes from its award-winning Heritage Collection.

Claire Jarvis said: “We had a fantastic response to our recent sales launch and people are really excited about the new community that is emerging in this part of Chadderton.

"It proves there is a strong demand for high quality new homes in the area.

"It was a pleasure to welcome Cllr Fielding and his colleagues to our development and discuss the vision for Fox Meadows and the wider Broadway Green development.”

A sales office is now open at Fox Meadows and furnished show homes are due to be completed towards the end of the year.
