It's a hole in one for Mahdlo youngsters

Seventeen teams enjoyed a fantastic day out at Saddleworth Golf Club as they took part in this year’s Golf Day, raising a fantastic £3,900 for the Mahdlo Egerton Street Youth Zone.

Organised by Rob Norbury and his team at Muse Uppermill, the event saw teams from Medlock FRB, Pearson Legal, Grandpa Greene’s Ice Cream and Hare and Hounds drive, chip and putt their way around the course.

The overall winner on the day was Wilds of Oldham, captained by Andrew Wild.

He said: “It’s been a fantastic day.

"We are proud sponsors of Mahdlo and it’s a pleasure to be involved with their events.

"As a company it’s really important to invest in the youth of the town and I encourage others to get involved.”

After the day’s golf, teams enjoyed an evening at Muse and tucked into a delicious buffet, sampling Muse’s signature dishes created by the new Head Chef.

Mr Norbury said: "The whole team at Muse have enjoyed working with Mahdlo to organise the event.

"Mahdlo is a great charity and to be able to see where the money raised is being used brings it closer to home.

"I’m looking forward to getting started on next year’s event."

Mahdlo interns Ben and Julia welcome the teams on the day

Lucy Lees, Deputy CEO at Mahdlo, added: "The money raised this year will be used to help fund our Get Sorted programme which includes mentoring, brew club and counselling.

"For many of our members these programmes provide a lifeline and additional support when they need us most.

"We can’t thank Rob and his team at Muse, and everyone who entered a team enough for their generosity and support.

"I hope to see them all again next year for another fantastic day out.”

The next Mahdlo fundraising event will be the Winter Ball on Saturday, November 10, 2018 - tickets are on sale now and start at just £75.
