Unity teams make it a 10 grand triumph!

The Oldham team from outsourcing specialists Unity Partnership has smashed its target of raising £10,000 for Royton charity, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice at Home.

As a local employer with over 360 staff, the Unity teams have worked tirelessly to ensure they reached the huge target through a number of activities, all planned and run by staff members.

Throughout the last 18 months, Unity hosted cake bakes, curry clubs, sit up challenges and seasonal raffles.

Today (Monday) a cheque for £10,155.09 was handed over to a very grateful team from Dr Kershaw's.

Unity Partnership’s Community Liaison Officer, Akddus Khan, said: “We are extremely proud of what our staff and teams have achieved.

"This is the largest donation we have ever made to a charity and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without dedication, commitment and plenty of fun!”

In May, a team of 10 runners took to the streets of Manchester to complete the Manchester 10k race, with several people tackling their first run ever.

Unity's fantastic Contact Centre team, who last year won the Oldham Council TOP award for Front Line Services, have also regularly donated all the proceeds they raised from their tuck shop.

The Dr Kershaw's Hospice at Home service works alongside and in addition to, services provided by the Community Nursing team, home care providers and Macmillan nurses.

It allows patients to remain in their own home if requested and to help prevent any unnecessary admissions to the hospital.

David Whaley, Income Generation and Communications Manager at Dr Kershaw's, said: “We are thrilled that Unity Partnership chose us as their corporate charity.

"The money they have raised is invaluable to the work we do and will provide a huge amount of much needed time and support for the people within our community who really need it.

"As a charity, we rely on donations such as these to fund our work and we can’t thank the staff and team enough for their amazing effort in raising so much money.”

Unity Partnership provide professional, outsourced services to both public and private sector clients, specialising in local authorities - including Oldham Council - and the education sector.
