CARER Dallas Baker may think she is just doing her job, but for the person she looks after it is more than that.

Gary Rowbottom (51), for whom Dallas has been a carer for nearly four years, has nominated Dallas for a Pride in Oldham award.

Gary is registered blind, disabled and has diabetes. Dallas ensures that he is taking care of himself and has made him more independent than ever before.

Upon nominating her, Gayr said: "She also puts everyone else above herself 24/7 all year round no matter what.

"She is also a smiling, loving person.

"Dallas also goes above and beyond the call of duty and never gives up on anyone."

Before becoming a professional carer, Dallas (41), from Springhead, started out by caring for her ill grandma who was in and out of hospital for 12 years, as well as helping out her uncle who had diabetes.

The mum-of-two said: "I do a job. I don't feel as though I'm anything special. By the sounds of it I do it really well.

"You do your job well and you go home satisfied that you have done it well.

"I became a care just to look after people.

"I wanted to achieve something with Gary. He wasn't looking after himself really well, especially with taking his medications.

"It has been a good four years.

"Gary is a good man."
