Care comes first for Barbara

A CARE provider has been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award for the outstanding care she gives to the elderly.
Barbara Rogers (65) has owned, managed and worked as a nurse at Park Hills Nursing Home, Werneth, for the last three decades, offering the highest standard of 24-hour care to all residents.
Despite suffering her own health problems in recent years and having had both knees replaced, her dedication to her residents has shone through.
As well as leading the care team at Park Hills, she makes their families feel at home when they visit, welcoming them and creating a comfortable, happy atmosphere.
The senior nurse, who has more than 40 years of experience, ensures that patients have the best care available to them, handpicking the valuable nursing team that she has worked with for years.
The nursing home, which offers palliative care, has received outstanding inspection reports for many years, from the cleanliness of the rooms to the hands-on personal care provided.
Barbara was nominated by Tom Hindley, whose mother Margaret is a resident at the home.
He said: “Over the years Barbara has shown untiring dedication and care to patients and their families whose lives have been shattered by illness.
“Standards of nursing and cleanliness are second-to-none and there is always a friendly and relaxed atmosphere around the home.
“It must surely be the finest nursing home in Oldham.”
Barbara said: “I’m really thrilled and surprised to have this nomination. It’s not just about what I do here, but about all of the staff.”
