EXEMPLARY patient care is behind a Hollinwood doctor being nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.

Elzbieta Klimko (45), of Lees moved to Oldham from Poland eight years ago and has been a doctor for over 20 years.

She was nominated for the award by patients at her Littletown Medical Practice, base in Manchester Road, for her outstanding care and kind nature.

After working in a hospital in Poland she moved to England with the intention of becoming a member of the Royal College of GPs an ambition she achieved within two years.

Mrs Klimko could not conceal her pride at being nominated and said that this made the hard work worthwhile.

She said: “I’m very proud to be nominated and pleased that what I am doing for the community is really appreciated.

“It is fantastic to know that my patients think that I’m doing well — this means so much to me.

“I’m really happy and excited and this is huge for me because I am from Poland and this shows that people have welcomed me as part of their community.

“The work is very challenging and I enjoy it — I’m always looking for ways to help others. I’m really lost for words.

“I see this as my home now and I’m happy to be part of this community and treat the patients to the best I can.”
