A CARING manager has been nominated for her dedication and outstanding effort with the people she helps.

Denise Rowe, who has managed Throstle Court for three years, goes above and beyond the call of duty to help the residents of the Middleton Road housing complex.

She regularly organises events or trips out for everyone in the sheltered housing accommodation and visits each of the residents every single day to check whether they are in need of anything.

Whether it is gardening, taking part in bingo games or even armchair aerobics, Denise ensures that all the residents spend their time keeping active and independent.

She was nominated by 85-year-old Ivy Mellor who has lived in Throstle Court for 20 years.

Ivy, who asked Denise for help when she had trouble climbing the stairs to her flat, said: “She really is a wonderful person and she helps us with everything that we need.

“She always comes to visit us and looks after us when we are unwell and whenever anyone has a problem with anything they know that they can talk to her and she will help.”

A surprised Denise said: “It is really nice to be nominated and to know that your efforts have been appreciated.

“There are so many jobs now that you don’t get thanks for so it is really nice to know that you are making a difference to their lives.

“It is about keeping people independent in their later life and that is what I try my hardest to do for the people of Throstle Court.”
